I am a dual citizen of the US of A and Canada. I was born in the US, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri and moved to Canada in 1974. I became a Canadian citizen in 1988. I have two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Guelph, one received in 1978, B Sc. in Genetics and Biochemistry; and a second in 1981, B Sc. (Agr.).
I married my first wife in 1978, Kristine Engelhardt, and we had three sons born to us: Jeff in 1981, Mike in 1982, and Karl in 1984. Kris died in a car accident in December of 1988.
I had started my career in agriculture with Cuddy Farms in Strathroy in 1981 and in May of 1988 they sent me to Jarvis, Ontario to be the Production Supervisor of the chicken hatchery there—formerly the Bray Chick Hatchery and now Cuddy Chicks.
That was where I met my wife Bonnie Hopper. We were married in 1990. Bonnie, my sons and I attended at Simcoe Gospel Chapel from 1988 to 2019. In 2004, I became the Associate Pastor and then in 2014 I became the lead Pastor. In 2019 we left the Chapel to pursue other opportunities and on August 1st, 2019 I became the new Pastor for Tyrrell Baptist Church.
I believe in several fundamentals of faith. First, that our Mission as the Church—that is, all believers—we are called to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, then teaching them about living a Christ-like and Christ-honoring life. Matthew 28:19-20; Matthew 22:37-39.
Second, I believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God and as such has much to teach us about life, love and service to others. 2 Timothy 3:16.
Third, I believe in the power of Prayer. Prayer is our communication with God and is our access to His throne room and will. Philippians 4:6
Fourth, I believe in Worship, but this is more than just music. It involves all we say, think and do. Romans 12: 1-2
Fifth and finally, I believe in Outreach. This relates back to the Mission of the Church as I stated earlier but this is the responsibility of all who believe to share their experience and love for God so others will be called to believe. Acts 1:8
